Mexico City is one of the most dog-loving cities in the Americas. Your plan keeps you in the leafy Roma and Condesa neighborhoods, where dogs come along to cafes, parks and patio dinners, with one easy trip into the historic center.
Where you stay
A pet-friendly boutique hotel in Condesa, a short walk from Parque México
Getting there
Fly into Mexico City (MEX). Small pets can fly in the cabin on many airlines, and we check your airline's rules
Best time to go
October to April. Summer afternoons bring heavy rain
Best for
Social dogs who stay calm in crowds, and small pets who fly in the cabin
Your trip, day by day
A sample plan. Yours is fitted to every pet in your group: size, breed, age and energy.
Day 1
Arrive and settle in
Morning
Land at MEX and take a pet-friendly car to Condesa, about 30 to 45 minutes. The booking link is in your plan.
Afternoon
Check in and let your pet explore the room. Then take a first easy walk on Avenida Amsterdam, the tree-lined oval street that loops around Parque México.
Evening
Dinner on a dog-friendly terrace in Condesa, where staff bring water bowls without being asked.
Pet tip: Mexico City sits at about 2,240 meters (7,350 feet). Keep day one short and offer water often.
Day 2
Parks and the historic center
Morning
Walk the shaded paths of Bosque de Chapultepec, one of the largest city parks in Latin America, before it gets busy.
Afternoon
Lunch at a Roma Norte cafe that lets dogs inside. Then take a taxi to Alameda Central park for the view of the Palacio de Bellas Artes. Dogs stay outside the museum, so you can add a vetted sitter if you want to go in.
Evening
Tacos on a patio back in Condesa and an evening loop of Parque México, when the whole neighborhood walks its dogs.
Pet tip: Downtown sidewalks get crowded and hot at midday. A short leash and a rest in the shade work best.
Day 3
Slow morning and home
Morning
Brunch in Roma Norte and one last walk through the neighborhood.
Afternoon
Leave for the airport with time to spare. Your plan marks a quiet spot near the terminal for a last bathroom break.
Evening
Home, with your pet's first passport stamp.
Pet tip: Keep your pet's paperwork in your carry-on, never in a checked bag.
